HATS and Webfacing
WebSphere Development Studio provides two tools, which can provide a more tailored interface without the need to change the RPG or COBOL code that the solution is written in. HATS allows a tailored look to be created without the need for the source code of the solution. Webfacing allows the tailoring to be taken further but does require access to the source code. New interface
CGI programming provides the opportunity to use existing skills in RPG or COBOL to develop browser based access through the use of HTML and JavaScript. PHP which is now available on the iSeries could then be used to replace the RPG or COBOL code.
